Major Brands Prepare to Enter Argentine Market

Companies from diverse sectors are preparing to enter Argentina due to the context of greater economic stability and the anticipated economic recovery starting this year, with an increase in consumption. In December 2024, economic activity improved by 4.6% compared to the same month in 2023 and by 1.3% from November 2023.

In this regard, Fabio Plein, Regional Director for the Americas of Coinbase, mentioned: "Economic freedom is the foundation of prosperity, and we are proud to bring secure, transparent, and reliable crypto services to Argentina." However, the year 2024 ended with a contraction of 2.9% in economic activity.

The general activity index (IGA-OJF) highlighted that sectors such as financial intermediation, agriculture, wholesale and retail trade experienced positive growth in December compared to the previous year. On the other hand, activities such as public administration, social services, electricity, water and gas, and construction showed negative figures.

Regarding brands preparing to enter the country, Decathlon, specialized in sporting goods, plans its return to Argentina after a previous attempt between 2000 and 2002. Meanwhile, Pizza Hut is evaluating its strategy to compete in a market dominated by traditional pizzerias. Victoria's Secret confirmed the opening of two stores in 2025 after postponing its entry due to the pandemic and macroeconomic conditions.

In the luxury sector, Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana are advancing in their plans to establish a presence in Argentina, with store openings in Buenos Aires. Other brands such as Liu Jo, Furla, and édition privée have also opened stores in Galerías Pacífico and Avenida Alvear, offering exclusive products.

Additionally, the cryptocurrency exchange platform Coinbase officially announced its expansion to Argentina, backed by a large number of global partners and significant trading volume. With these arrivals, greater diversification and expansion of the market in the country is expected.
